As electronic medical record (EMR) systems are adopted by physician offices, more laboratory services providers are receiving requests to send results electronically to an EMR system.

The EHR-Lab Interoperability and Connectivity Standards (ELINCS) project involves work with stakeholders to develop a national clinical data standard – based on HL7 standards – that is seamlessly adaptable by those utilizing other existing standards.

This white paper explores the relationship between EMRs and ELINCS and how it can assist the quality of connectivity between labs and physician EMRs.
